The Importance of Your Light

I hear from people every week who tell me either through what they say or how they say it that their life is meaningless. They moan that because other people do not see them as valuable, they are valueless.

I’m here to state right here on this post that what these poor folks and some of you reading this post believe is not true.

The Danger of Allowing Others To Dictate Who We Are

6

Who are you? Are you what others either in your past or your present believe you are? Or are you more?

If you asked a conservative political person who I am, they would take a look at the fact that I cannot work, live on disability, reside in low-income housing and get food stamps and decide I am a loser. But, does that make it true?

I’m not beautiful either. I’ve had a breast removed, have huge scars from that surgery and others, have gray hair, false teeth and live in a wheelchair. Some would say I’m ugly. Does that make it true?

Others would look at my struggles with my mental health and conclude I’m a crazy loser who shouldn’t be loose in “good” society. Does that make it true?

Of course not. None of that is what and who I am. I am a beautiful success story and have learned more about myself and life than most people ever do.

You see, I am me.

Allowing Your Light to Shine

3

You don’t have to be rich or famous to lead people out of the darkness of despair and self-hate. You just simply need to shine before them and that will help them see their own path.

You are not responsible for their path, no, not at all. We all must travel our own. However, allowing our healing light to shine makes finding their way less frightening and less lonely.

I try not to give advice. It’s difficult because like every other human being on the planet, I crave to control the actions of others.

That is NOT the light I am speaking of here.

The light I’m talking about is the light of love, acceptance, gentle guidance, respect, dignity and tolerance.

Only when we shine a light containing those characteristics can we have a huge impact on our world and the world our children and their children will inherit.

Be a beacon of light because the world desperately needs it to shine.

And…
